Christopher Franklin
Oil and watercolor landscapes and portraits

Cv/bio

Chris Franklin is a native of Lexington Kentucky and has been drawing or painting all his life. From pencil and crayon lessons in kindergarten to more formal art education in high school and college, Chris has developed his own style while paying tribute to the many great artists he admires including Homer, Sargent. Hopper and Wyeth.

Throughout his school years, Chris would constantly be drawing.  Everything from fellow students to cartoons for friends, Chris loves to create a smile on a person's face more than anything.  That appreciation of his work is the highest compliment.

First learning to paint in watercolor, Chris soon excelled in this difficult media. He has the ability to capture the personality of his subjects, paying special attention to the eyes, what Chris considers the most important part of any portrait. Working exclusively in watercolor for over twenty years he was convinced by his sister-in-law to at least try to paint in oil. Chris' first oil paintings were really just sketches as you might expect but quickly he realized that by using what he had learned with watercolor could make for very interesting oil paintings.

One area that has really been growing are home portraits.  Chris can take a few sketches or photos of your home and create a memory to pass down through the generations.  Some of his home portraits are now with families as far as Canada and Ireland.

Chris has been honored by several non-profit groups for his donations to their fund raising efforts.  Including the local Provdence Montessori School and most recently, Habilitat in Hawaii.

Chris hopes you enjoy his works and wishes you the very best in all your endeavours.
